Peace, little one… you are safe.
Take, little one… you will be satisfied.
Rest, little one… your eyes can close here.
Soon enough, your lips will leave this warmth for the very last time, never to return. They will touch more hard things; cups, glasses, cold windowpanes… until someday, when you are MUCH older, they will find comfort and warmth on another’s skin once again.
So these last arm-filling exchanges, those final days- they are special. Don’t rush…
And we mamas, as we both mourn and rejoice the end simultaneously, will try to remember these sweet, quiet moments where there was nothing between us.
My heart always aches when I talk to mamas who wanted so deeply to be able to have this relationship with their little ones, but had to find it through a different form. I don’t take this gift for granted and the days go by so fast. So these truly are my favorite sessions to capture. I’m right in the middle of motherhood myself, so as a photographer, I am in touch with all the moments that I personally wished I had a camera in my eye… Capturing your moments are the next best thing for me.
